Position:Home>Performing Arts> I have a Clarinet Problem! Someone help!?

Question:Alright, I have been playing clarinet for 5 years and this has never happened before. I can't reach my lower register, like whenever I try to play low G, F, and E it goes up to the higher register, and I'm not putting the register key down! What's wrong with my clarinet? It's not a reed problem either, I've tryed it on 10 different reeds, and 3 different level of reeds, 31/2, 3, and 2! All of them don't work

Try cleaning the clarinet a lot.

Check under your octave key to make sure there's no water under there.

If that doesn't work, take it to the shop.

Check your octave key..

Or maybe take it in to the shop, I'm sorry to hear about that!

That's happened to me, too. On the day of regional auditions, my low E came out as a squeak. It sounds like a problem with the pads, or a key that may be stuck. Take it to to your school if you're still in school, or try the place you got it from. Sam Ash is okay with repairs, try looking them up online.
