Question:I've been playing for like 7 years and the trumpet I've always had is kind of crap. So I'm getting a new one for my birthday.
Does anyone have a website or any kind of link to where I can find out what there is and stuff?
Also, do I need to get a specific mouthpiece size? I'm going to be 16, so I'd need a large one, right?
Also, I'm just looking for a standard trumpet to play in a high school jazz band. So I would need a B flat trumpet, right? And an intermediate one?

My take on the above:

1) Mouthpiece: depends on your own lips and the style you want most to play. You need to consult with a knowledgeable brass player and try out several sizes of mouthpiece to see what does what you need.

2) Regarding instruments, yes you want a standard Bb trumpet (is no one teaching you about this???). Now, intermediate is one idea, but my thought would be, don't screw around, get the best instrument you can find. A used instrument will give you more bang for the buck, look on ebay or http://www.shopgoodwill.com and get yourself a Bach or a Benge or some such symphonic-quality horn.
