Why do people hate screamo?

Why do people hate opera? Why do people hate country? Or rap?

Because different people have different tastes. The music that fills you with energy sounds like discordant overacting to someone else. The stuff I listen to most of the time could very well bore you to tears. It's your privilege to like whatever you like, and no one should have to justify it (now, if you are in a college-level course, you might be asked to analyze it--but that's a different topic).

"it takes talent because... it strains your voice" !?!?!? That is the lamest argument I have ever encountered. "Screamo" is just too hard to understand for my tastes, although I know some very talented "screamo" bands. I prefer to understand the lyrics.

It doesn't take talent...I could do it. And I do mean scream like a pro, not just a bunch of babbling.

Because it's loud and it's SIMPLE MINDED... and it is ANYTHING but TALENT... I may not know the fine points of "screamo"... but I certainly know crap when I hear it.

Because it's not music.

Because its loud, unintelligible, unmusical crap, that's why.

Why do PEOPLE hate screamo? Well, PEOPLE hate everything... Everyone is different, some like screamo, others hate it.

Not arguing with the fact you say "it's not just a stupid yell," I am going to say this.

It is not take talent to do screamo, to strain your voice is to not use "classical" technique, maybe it's the technique of "screamo. But still, it is something that many... many people can do, however refuse to because of the problems it can cause to the vocal cords.

Another reason why people may dislike screamo is because they simply cannot understand what is being sung/yelled/screamed.

But as another person said above -- What sounds beauteous to you can sound like a dying cat to others.
