GOVERNMENTS!!!!!!!!!!! corporations defining the means by which we should conduct our lives, in order to perpetuate their own goals. show me the government which is motivated by love for the people and not love of money, and you'll be showing me a dream! instead, the people are being blindly led into living disillusioned lives with the most pressing factor being how to pay the bills and keep "the man" off their back. I live in Britain, and people here think we live in a wonderful, enlightened country, but really we are steeped in ignorance and lies. does anyone know the official British language? go on, guess .... English? NO!!!!!!!!! according to the parliamentary prayer book act of 1661 (which has NEVER been repealed) the language of Britain is Welsh!! are we taught Welsh in English schools? NO!!!!! are we even taught that basic fact? NO!!!!! did the English allow Welsh kids to speak Welsh in their schools? NO!!!! ( http://www.bbc.co.uk/wales/history/sites... ) ... just one of the thousands of ways the English regime has oppressed its people, their heritage and their freedoms. dont even get me started! dammit, i am started .... lets look at the way everything has legislation ... we cant gather on the street in groups without it being against the law (criminal justice act) ... we cant hold a gathering in a venue playing music without kow-towing to ridiculous licensing laws ... why cant we jus party????? .... anti smoking laws ... i mean, cigarettes and alcohol go hand in hand to so many ... now we cant smoke in a venue (after we've bent over backwards to get it licensed) so anyone making the effort to play live music cant even get their audience to sit and listen to them, because invariably, the audience is standing outside having a cigarette. how the hell is anyone supposed to build up a good vibe when every ten minutes everyone leaves?
ive noticed how empty the local pubs are since that law came in, so not only is it killing the livelihood of those who rely on a public audience, like musicians, it is killing the livelihood of local landlords .... nobody's gonna get the priniciples which are being advocated by the artists. as a songwriter, i sing of truth, and freedom ... i want to celebrate that with my audience, incite them to not take the bullshit of legislation any more .... im not gonna do that with my audience stood outside am i? ... we are constantly being challenged wherever we attempt to gather, unless that gathering is at the work-place ... why? because when people get together, they talk, and when they talk, they affirm their beliefs, and lets face it, we all believe that things are gettin too much like bullshit these days, so its not in a governments best interest to allow people to gather under a flag of protest against their regime is it? lets face it, if i took to the streets and started telling people to join me in my fight against a false democracy, i could be arrested and detained indefinitely under anti-terrorism law (how democratic is it to need millions in the bank to mount a political campaign which competes with those of the established parties, especially when all the major media are in one way or another, already affiliated to a particular political cause, no matter how surreptitiously they declare those allegiances?) free speech? my ***!
how contrived are these laws gonna get before people start to wake up from the stupor their badly provided education has enforced upon them? in school, i learnt nothing of my culture, my roots and heritage, i was taught only the tools i needed to fit into the job market, which is not where i or anyone truly wants to be. we all have our gifts and skills ... are they really being utilised by spending 1/3 of our lives stacking shelves, shuffling files, and working the production lines, or are they simply being WASTED?
blah blah blahhhhhhhhhhhhh
it used to incense me, but ive seen how little people seem to care. and thats the problem. we are not focused on Love, community and each other, we are focused on the problems that governments have given us.

No one can keep peace everyone fight just cause what inside tells then, they should kill there inside and listen to what peace is

There is only one thing that is the root of everything wrong with the world. The lack of love for one another. Why is there not more help avaliable for third world countries? Because we don't love them enough (if at all). Why are there homeless people on our streets? Because we don't love them enough. Why is there fighting between this country and that? Because they don't love each other. Am I being silly? No.

"Love is patient; love is kind
and envies no one.
Love is never boastful, nor conceited, nor rude;
never selfish, not quick to take offense.
There is nothing love cannot face;
there is no limit to its faith,
its hope, and endurance.
In a word, there are three things
that last forever: faith, hope, and love;
but the greatest of them all is love.”

Read that carefully. If each and every one of us abided by this, wouldn't the world be awesome! There will be great thinkers who say that if the world were so loving toward each other, then there would be no balance and no economy. What a load of crap. "But communism doesn't work" you may say. No it didn't work each time it was tried because no everyone participated and the biggest downfall of all was the fact that the leaders didn't want to lead by example. They were greedy for power and money.

There is a little story about a beach covered in thousands of starfish washed up. An old man was walking down the beach and came across a little boy picking up starfish and throwing them back into the water. "Why are you doing that?" asked the old man. "Because I want to save them," replied the little boy. The old man laughed whole heartedly and said to the little boy, "There are thousands of starfish here. You coudn't possibly make a difference." The little boy picked up a starfish and through it into the water then looked up at the old man, "I made a difference to that one."

Cute and powerful story? At first I thought so. But think again. What a cop out to all the people who think picking up one starfish and throwing it back means they've done their part. If this were a real situation, how hard would it be to get a few workers and a few diggers to move ALL the starfish back into the water? But oh no, lets just throw one back if we walk past. After all, every little bit counts.

There is more that can be done but because of greed, it wont be. All this space exploration to "find the origions of this universe" is billions of dollars wasted which could be used to do positive things for this planet. But no, lets waste that money on trying to prove God didn't create this universe. Whatever you believe, who cares whether God created the universe or not. If you believe it, then good. If you don't believe it, then good. But don't waste money on trying to prove one way or another, which is all they are doing, because what other good would all this space exploration do for us?

What about out modern way of bringing up children. I can't speak for any other country, but here in New Zealand, it's illegal to smack children. And by smack, I mean even a light tap on the hand. And what about this... if a child does something wrong, we aren't allowed to say the word 'no' or 'don't' or anything that will make the child feel as though he/she did something wrong. Then we wonder why the hell our prisons are full, the police are overworked and understaffed and the failrate of school exams is too fricken high. So what does all this (and more) mean? No love. How? Well spare the rod, spoil the child. And that doesn't just mean a smack every now and then, it also means actually teaching children the difference between right and wrong and God forbid, try build into them a conscience.

I can go on and on and on and on but I think if you get what I'm saying here, you will get the rest.

To sum it up, what do we have a well off western world (with the less than well off struggling along) and a third world who could be helped a little faster than it's actually happening.

Oh, by the way, this western world could be helped by the love emotion. If all those hurting, down people were lifted up a little with the occasional compliment and if employers, teachers and parents cut a little slack and allowed mistakes rather than rip down the one who are trying, well...

I'll tell you what's wrong with the world: my alternate picking on the head from 'Donna Lee'. It sounds too rinky-dink. I need to practice more.

Well, you did ask this question in the 'Performing Arts' category.
