First - NEVER EVER pay anyone to represent you - they are paid a percentage of the work they get you AFTER they get you real work. Second - or maybe should have been first - no one is going to represent you UNLESS they think that you are SO GOOD ( among the VERY best in your age and category) that is worth their while to put you forward as a potential candidate for serious professional employment.

You live in Illinois - which is HARDLY the middle no nowhere. Do not think that you must live in LA or NYC. If you are GOOD ENOUGH ( and that means INCREDIBLY good, not just a cute wannabe) you are taking many professional classes, and have already been the TOP talent in all the possible local productions. Just because you LOVE something does not mean you have any chance to make it happen. You must love it enough to STUDY it incredibly hard - top teacher, hours EVERY DAY of rehearsal, etc. I should know - there are 4 of us in this family in the business.

I recently answered the question about "why are there people who want to crush your dreams?" I do NOT want to crush anyone's dream - I want to help them FULFILL it!! Can you tell this from my post?

there are two ways to get a talent agent.

1. you pay them money
2. you audition for them and impress them.

you can check some classifieds for talent agents for the first option, look in the paper for local auditions for the second option.

Search around.....ask......try and find out the name of people who are into your field.....then see if you can ask people that you admire, go to their web site.....and where it says contact us.....ask who their agent is.....and then check with the better business bureau !!!!! Also make up a video with your singing, dancing, playing piano, and do a little scene from something that you know well and send it ... Good luck, I hope that you make it !!!!!
