Question:I went to school at UW, and I haven't been there since 1995. What is Madison like now? What is your experience? I am a NYC educator, writer, poet, and singer looking for a cool, laid-back, friendly "art town."

I've lived in Madison my entire life and am very happy here. As far as "cool, progressive, artistic, friendly and laid-back", I would say YES - Madison is all those. Madison has a great amount of diversity of people and different things to do, cultural appreciation and events. I think based on what you described you're looking for, Madison would be an excellent choice for you.

I was there for a week last summer. Yes, it's a great place to visit. It's full of Commie flakes and moonbats, but it IS fun. You can probably make a scene there, and it would be a lot more relaxed than NYC.
