Position:Home>Performing Arts> What is the best flute for an advanced high school flute player?

Question:it depends on MANY different things!! one very important thing is how much money you plan on spending........ professional flutes range from around 1,000$ to many higher prices.... i would consider not spending too much but you also dont want to go cheap.....proably the best thing to do is to talk to your private flute teacher ( if you take lessons) or talk to your band director. they could probably give you good advice on where and what to buy. i personally was able to buy mine with help from my teacher :) i love it btw :) another thing you should do is try many different types of flutes...even if a store has 2 flutes that are exactly the same try both, there WILL be differences and you will probably like one better than the other....as far as brand names go.... i personally woud go with...gemienhardt, yahmaha, emerson, altus,or lyric...... but there are many others that are still wonderful flutes. I personally prefer altus...they are amazing flutes with great intonation(which is something to consider to :)..........have fun picking out a flute!!!!!

I'm not sure about brands, but getting an open-hole flute is a very good instrument for someone who is advanced to play on. It takes a little getting used to (because it feels a little different to actually cover the holes on the keys) but it is definitely worth it!

Depends on a whole lot of factors! Gemeinhardt, Jupiter, Armstrong, Yamah. Pearl etc they all make advanced flutes. What does your two priatve flute teachers say? If possible take them along when you go Flute shopping! They know how you play, what you are aiming for etc! If you want to play professionally you will need a different flute to if you are just teaching! It also depends on how much you have to spend!
