I'm going to assume you're talking natural bright stage lighting. I'm going to repeat the makeup process I have used for all my shows for about a year and the results are always great (I learned from a pro. makeup artists, who has done a lot of artists like Jennifer Lopez, so I trust her).

1. foundation matching your skin tone (so the rest goes on easier. yes, even put in on your eyelids, the outside of your ears, and around your neck so you don't look like you're wearing makeup)

2. blush (not too red, a little goes a long way. smile, lightly stroking from the apple of your cheek to your ear)

3. powder (translucent or matching your skin tone, to set the blush)

4. eyeliner (brown if you want a natural look, under the eye and along the lid. try to do it in one fluid stroke)

5. eyeshadow (neutral/tan on the lid, a darker brown in the crease, and a paler tan lighter than your skin tone from the top of the lid to the brow. if you want to make your eyes look bigger, also apply the light color under your eye)

6. mascara (hold and wiggle. it's best to use a curved brush)

7. lipstick (put chapstick on first, so the color lasts longer. pick a pinky shade, one that looks natural with your color)

probably more than you wanted, but there you go!

one thing I forgot to mention because I forget to use it sometimes - eyebrows. Choose a color a shade lighter than your eyebrows, and fill them in with a small brush, it gives them more definition. Report It

  • That's going to depend on the lighting--if the stage lighting is going to be ordinary room light, then anything that you think looks good will be OK. If it's going to be stage lighting with strong gel colors, then unless you can go there beforehand and try out several, you should stick with neutral tones (flesh tones) for your make-up--give your eyes that chocolate brown smokey look :-)

Believe it or not, blue is actually one of the best colors on the stage. It looks sort of ridiculous in real life, but harsh stage lights completely wash you out, so that pop of color brings life back to your face. If you're nervous about doing blue, though, use a paler blue on most of the lid, and bright blue just near the lash line. It looks pretty and doesn't get lost under the lights.

The person above me has some pretty great information. I'll add a bit about the eyes that I picked up from the last show we did.

For eyeliner, choose a brown that matches the color of your eyebrows. And when choosing an eyeshadow, choose one without sparkles in it. They make you look sweaty. You would be surprised how many shadows have them.

    Good luck!
