I teach middle and high school voice class. Go to www.jwpepper.com and browse the collections there. Although you might be drawn to the Broadway collections, trust me here - go for something that FITS you and shows you off. Those are for ADULTS - you are still growing, and want to choose wisely. There is a great collection called "song for Bass in a Comfortable Range" GET IT!! A good folk song will show yo off better than something that is from a show, and is a struggle for you. Good luck - you have asked an intelligent musical question - instead of the whiny kids who ask *how can I get FAMOUS??** Good for you!!

Well, the sine qua non of bass songs from musicals is "Ol' Man River," from "Showboat."
But of course you are up against the ghosts of Paul Robeson and William Warfield on that one.
An interesting alternative might be "Poor Jud" from "Oklahoma!" It's not something everyone has heard a million times on recordings by great artists, so you can more easily make it your own.
From the classical library, the death scene from "Boris Gudonov" might be a good choice, but it calls for acting chops that a 14 y/o might not have. And if you have a tenor to duet with, "Au fond du temple saint" from Bizet's "The Pearl Fishers" is incomparable. The best. Period. (The definitive rendition is the 1951 recording on RCA by Jussi Bjoerling and Robert Merrill.

Edit: How about "You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two" from "Oliver!" - good for a young singer and fun as well.
