Position:Home>Performing Arts> Where is my guitar pick? How do I keep from constantly losing them?

Question:Well, this question actually falls into two categories, depending on what you mean.

Do you mean you lose them while playing, e.g., you drop them? My solution was to drill a tiny hole in the fat end of the pick and hook a bit of yarn through it, tie a slip knot so it wouldn't pull through the hole all the way, and then tie a loop knot at the other end and loop it around my middle finger. Then if I lost my grip, the yarn would prevent the pick from going far and I could easily flip it back into my hand.

They also make a kind of pick, the "Orbit", that has a plastic ring that does the same thing.

If you are losing the pick just because you are careless, get in the habit of storing it in by twisting it into the strings of the guitar, either up above the nut or down below the bridge. And yes, really good players get a little box to keep picks in (mine is a Jelly Belly 20 assorted flavors box); then you can keep a variety of picks if you like plus back-ups for the ones you usually use.

try slipping it through the strings at the top, or get a little box or bowl dedicated to storing your picks.

Put it between any two of the strings and have one under it. It Works for me Hope this Helps:)

The plectrum monster eats them - there's no other explanation.

As to where it is, no idea. You can keep it in the strings, like the other two answerers suggested or put it on a string around your neck (preferably one you can stash in your pocket when you play). The only other thing to do is keep a stash of them in your case.

Buy the pick holder in a music store. They are about $2 and a little bigger than a pick. It can hold about 10 . You can put it anywhere on the body and it will stay put.

And how exactly are we suppose to know where you keep misplacing them?

put a strip of duct tape on your guitar and stick your picks on it. then just take it off when you use it.

a necklace : )

Maybe make it into a necklace, take your fave pick, make a teeny hole and put it on a chain!!!

Learn to fingerpick and then you won't need them
