Question:My song for solo and ensemble is Jesus Jesus Rest Your Head. I sing it at a comfortable tempo for me but my choir director recommends that I sing it more as a lullaby. But my performance is tomorrow...should I take the risk and sing it differently? And do you think it is more of a lullaby? Thanks
Mollie

My solo and Ensamble is tomorrow too. I can't wait!

Since your preformance is tomorrow, I'd say it's too late to change. Not only will you have to remember but so will your accompianist. Changing it at the last minute might also make you really nervous which won't help your preformance. If it sounds good and it works for you, I'd just keep it the way it is.

Break a leg. I hope you do really well.

you can express it as Jesus at age twelve in the Temple taking a break from the teachers He was teaching and do a hip hop version to get blown away on your grade

or can sing the traditional lullabye and score Superior

your grade - your choice

Why not tape both ways and ask your family which they think is best, or sing it in person if possible, your family will not lie to you, and go from there. That is if your director doesn't object, sometimes they know what is best for your voice and you just don't hear it.....go for the family's opinion !!!!!! Good luck !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes- I agree. A few girls at my school are singing it as well, and they have the same problem. I sang it last year, and it is meant to be slower.

However, if you think slowing it will make you completely crash and burn, then don't do it.

If you choose not to slow it down, expect the judge to say something, becasue I'm sure s/he will.
