Position:Home>Performing Arts> Why can't I adjust my guitar action?

Question:I have a cheap guitar. It's a Lyon by Washburn, like a fake strat. I'm trying to adjust the strings to a standard height for better action but I continue to get fret buzz. Is it me or my cheapo guitar?
I'm looking at buying an Epiphone Les Paul Custom. Would I see a big difference in playability?

First of all, buzzing probably means that the guitar needs a "fret dress" (ask your local music shop dealer). But it could also be old stale strings. It could also be that something on the guitar isn't as tight as it should be.

And yes, by buying an Epiphone (if it's in good shape) you would see a bid difference in playability.

And btw...adjusting the action makes the intonation change, so you'll need to take care of that, too, or you won't be able to tune it properly.

it surely is because of your cheap guitar. although it can be that you are not adjusting the strings well as you are not a luthier or even learned how to do it i guess.
for the second question the answer is absolutely yes, and not only in playability but also in sound and everything.

Well, for youre old guitar, it can be of two either things. it can be that you have to replace the nut, adjust the truss rod ( Do this only if you know about it) or adjust the height of the strings at the bridge. And yes if you buy a new guitar there will be a tone difference, but dont forget the amp has to do a lot with that tone. Wont do you good if you have a bad *** guitar and a crappy amp. And also, let me tell something that i learned after three years of playing and over $4,000 spent on equipment, it dosent matter what type of guitar, amp, pedals you have, because when it comes down to it, its your fingers that have the tone.

No the epiphone is a cheap guitar too.
Maybe better though.
You could try taking the top of the necks white bar thingy off that the strings settle into and put a match under it a paper match or fold a peice of paper to raise it then glue it back. That will raise the strings a little don't raise it to high though.
