How do you write songs?

Poetry may inspire you to attach a melody to the words you read...Or, if you are able to listen inside of your spirit a melody may come to you and then you can record it...
Or, take a familiar melody and change the words to it...to practice...
Keep at it though...listen to the birds in nature, on long walks especially at sunrise...they provide a symphony of music.

What kind of music are you interested in writing? It helps if you play piano or guitar, then start off with some simple chord progressions. But again, it really depends on the genre in which you'd like to write.

well only some people are into it but if you start to sing some of your own words that come from your heart and thereb you have a song my sister does it all the time

I started with a little lick that I liked, that evolved into a chord progression, then lyrics.
Laid out tab, transcribed to notation and it was done.

I prefer to come up with an idea for the overall view of the song. You can write songs a million ways. I usually think of a little guitar intro and keep working until I think I've got something, then I start thinking up lyrics. Usually I just steal vocal melodies from popular songs and change them later, haha. You can write a song just about any way you want.
