If it is not chipped or cracked, it is fine. If you cannot get any instrument sanitizer, then a quick dip in any kind of germ-killing mouthwash will do the job. Do not SOAK it - just dip - wait, rinse - pat dry - use. I use sanitizer all the time - and I swear it is basically mouthwash in a *serious* package.

You should always have a spare reed to two - what if you broke this one?

If it's not broken, go ahead and play on it. Even if it is broken, you might be able to use it until you get new.

Note that the reed will pick up all kinds of micro-organisms in routine use. So long as you got any dirt off of it, there's no big danger of infection.

Yes, your reed will be fine as long as it's not cracked or you didn't drop it in the mud.
I advise you to spray some instrument sanitizer on it to kill the germs. Your band director will probably have some.

I think that it would be better if you just throw them away. I play clarinet too. They don't really cost that much if you buy them in boxes. I would just throw it away. Hope this helps.
