Position:Home>Performing Arts> Why do opera singers pull weird faces when they sing?

Question:I dont know if it is all opera singers. But the ones I have seen pull strange, almost constipated looking faces.
Has anyone notised this?
Does anyone know why they do it?

When people sing in the opera they have funny faces because it is called dramatising AKA singing with emotion! I was in music express in high school and they made us do the same thing with our faces!

because the notes are so high

passion

Because they are acting as well. It's impossible to sing without moving your facial muscles.

i dont really know but i think its because the notes are so high

my uncle is lee R. is a famous opera singer and to get the notes to come out clear you need to open wide, it just happens that ppl sometimes look wierd doing it lmao
:)

they dont care what they look like when they are getting out the voice they want...look at john mayer, he's hideous when he sings, but its great.

the note are awkward and inorder to sing them you need to use you vocal chord and the postion of your mouth in ways your not use to... it causes you to look constapted and in denial about it!
i always wonder the same thing so i met one randomly and asked.

Because it helps to relieve constipation at same time! *LOL*

to show their expressions and the notes are really high

Because they are weirdos ..... :)
