Well, I can answer this question pretty easy!
Some people are born with natural talent, and others are not!
I am one that was not born with natural talent!
But after consistent determination, and years of experience, I have become a very talented musician!
I can play guitar , bass, and sing, and I do all of them well, and sometimes two of them at the same time, which is a talent in itself!
You're right, given the right training/work ethic most "untalented" people can learn to do things they couldn't believe!

talent and learning is different, talent is something that you are naturally born with and learning is accomplish by practising and spending time. I beleive anyhing can be learn by giving your best.

Being a natural helps, but I think you can overcome many with grit and determination, my friend.

It really only takes patience and the desire to learn. When my mom signed me up for guitar lessons at 8 years old, I had neither, so I stopped playing. Later on, I decided I wanted to learn again, and I did.
I don't think that some people are necessarily born with more talent, but I do think that they can pick things up faster, and use their talent to the fullest of their ability. For example, I can match Purple Haze with Jimi Hendrix note for note, but there's no way I could use what I've learned to make such ridiculous guitar solos, or play with my teeth, or with my guitar behind my back.

I think that it helps a lot if you have a natural talent. If you have the talent, you will learn much faster, and eaiser ... and maby better. But if you have the motivation, and time to practice a lot, you will get it eventually... No doubt about that. I don't hink that the term "Practice Makes Perfect" is nessesarly true because nothing is perfact,. But practice for sure helps a lot!!!!

No. It is really talent. Anybody can play an instrument...put can you really PLAY the instrument? Anybody can play the notes given the right training, but can you really play the music.

When you have reached the level in your playing where you play music and people can feel your passion...thats where the talent is.
