I'm pretty sure that's not possible. An e-flat clarinet is a lot smaller than a regular clarinet in both width and length. However, an a-flat clarinet is only a slightly different shape, but is still its own clarinet.

Most professional clarinetists own 3-4 types of clarinets including a b-flat, e-flat, a-flat, and bass. Usually they have the ones that play in different keys so that they can deal with orchestra music's awkward key signatures.

My best advice would to invest in an e-flat clarinet if you are serious about playing the instrument. It would help you out in orchestra, and the more instruments you can play, the more opportunities you get to play.

Nope you need to get a seperate Clarinet for that one sorry!

You can't change the key just by changing the barrel.

Nope. The e-flat clarinet is much smaller than the b-flat clarinet. Follow the link below to see a picture of someone playing--it will show you the size difference.

No, the Eb clarinet is a lot smaller than the Bb - not even the tiniest of barrels would bring the pitch up enough to turn it into an Eb. You can buy barrels in various different lengths, but these are just for very minor tuning adjustments, eg, if someone plays quite flat, they might buy a shorter barrel to make them more in tune. They don't alter the key of the instrument though.

You might be able to borrow a Eb from somewhere. Does the orchestra own any instruments? There's not much point in buying one really, unless you really like it and want to specialise in it.
