Question:as some of you may know I'm starting a band, I'm going to be lead vocals any advice for a band/vocalist just starting out (mostly as far as song writing and clicking together as a band musically)

alright, yeh, i started a metal band about a month ago and we're doing good with me on vocals and lead guitar . im 14

1. Enthusiasm, if want to sound good, u hav to feel the musc, u have to love the music, and u have to be the music,lol

2. Making lyrics is a key to it to. simply just
a. Pick a topic
pick a topic or a life experience but dont be scared to mix it up.
ex. i drempt about waking up in a sewer and describing everything around me and trying to get out(dont take my song, lol)
b. Key Words
use dramatic words
ex. Haste, Break, Fallen, Permit, Omerta
c. Poetry
Ryhme! Ryhme! Ryhme!!
poetry is consisted of rhyming format
lyrics are poetry but with music
could use a rhyming format like
A weather
A sweater
B hinge
B minge
or
A weather
B hinge
A sweater
B minge

you must always never drink soda before you sing, i forgot to mention this, it constricts your voice although it has been proven that if you drink like a cup of olive oil is loosens and smoothens your thymus and vocal chords. it may taste bad but its worth it! lol

just try it and see how it goes.... hopefully you've performed w/ some of these people before ....

Musically make sure you are protecting yourself copyrights and stuff and putting yourself out there. Record companies will not come to you if you don't give them a reason. Perform everywhere create a buzz.

I looked at everyone else's advice which was solid but one thing no one mentions is maintaining your ear and your health. When you are in a band you have a lot more sound to compete with, make sure to protect your voice. At the end of the day it’s your body and gift you want to preserve.
