Position:Home>Performing Arts> How and where do you put the key signature C on a musical staff?

Question:You don't. The key of C has no sharps or flats, so you just leave the lines and spaces empty. Other keys, those with sharps or flats, put the proper symbols on the staff lines or spaces where they actually occur, after the clef symbol. For example, the key of G has an F# in its scale, so the # symbol is placed in the F spaces on the treble and bass clefs.

Treble clef? or Bass clef? and sharp or flat?

more info please so we can help you!

As I recall, the part of the staff with the large black DOT has to be on the NOTE.

The black dot on the G cleft is on the G note.

TitoBob said it best. Also, there are no sharps or flats in the key of Am. One way to differentiate this key is to see if there are more A notes rather than C notes. If so, the key is in Am (usually, but not always).

We start with the natural scale C D E F G A B C

If we know the key is C something or other, and there are no sharps or flats, then the key is C natural or C major.

Another way of saying that is that you would normally put your sharps or flats at the beginning of the staff, but if the key is C major then none are required.

I hope that helped, but I'm a little confused as to what your question is.
