Excitement and fear are the two major causes for shakiness in voice and body and will cause massive forget fullness. So first and foremost, calm down a bit and take it easy.

I'm a theater student and I used to be deathly afraid of acting in front of people, auditions always gave me the shivers. Then one day, I got the best advice "Work your *** off, but don't care whether you get the part or not." Film and theater are full of let downs. If you don't get the part this time, be patient. Your dream is maybe put on hold but any great and successful performer has had to continually work and have faced rejection often.

If you can't get over a fear then you can't get the part because the uncertainty will be crystal clear to casting. More than anything, understanding of your own self will determine how you can go about getting the role.

That said - here is what you can do to ease down a bit:

1- Don't do anything on the day of the audition that is abnormal to your typical day to day behavior. If you never drink coffee in the morning, don't do it on the audition day.
DRESS COMFORTABLE. Wear something you can move in and still look professional. You may have already bought the perfect outfit for the audition but I stress highly that you wear it once before so you know how you will feel and how you move in it. The day of the audition should not have any surprises that you know could have been preped for before.

2- Practice til it's completely in you. I personally know I'm not ready for an audition til I'm practically sick of the pieces worked because at that point I completely know everything that I needed preped because I've done it over and over and over, for many many hours. The song, the dance, and any monologue needs to be en-grained in you completely. HOWEVER, MAKE SURE ALL OF IT IS STILL INTRIGUING! Make sure any piece is still as FRESH as the first time you sung, danced, or acted. Your first run of any piece, while extremely choppy, will really let you know how each piece is meant to be interpreted. As you continually practice, make sure to keep your first impression in mind and gradually improve on aspects that you are uncomfortable with.

3- If you need to do a cold reading for the audition and a script was not available beforehand act natural. The casting knows you won't be perfect but they are going to want to cast someone who fits TYPE. Type is age range, status in life, and an overall look of a character. So study the possible roles offered and determine which character most appeals to you that is like your type. Which character really fits and appeals to something you are comfortable with and how can you communicate to casting directors that YOU can be this CHARACTER?

4 *MOST IMPORTANT* - Be nice to everybody!!! You never know who is important and you never know who is watching your behavior within the green room. Remember casting directors already have the job, you want the job so be as cautious and genuine as you yourself would like to be treated. They are on top and respect and admiration should be given. Don't overkill them though, they've seen many auditions before you so they will catch at the blink of an eye any insincerity that you give.
There are also going to be a lot of people auditioning that are going to try and discourage you by trying to seem more experienced than you. The truth is, since this audition is for a huge mecca company, that casting will be looking for someone who is a new face. So be proud of the fact that you have the skill to audition and work on your own appeal. You are not casting so don't judge yourself as any less appealed than someone who is ranting about their own accomplishments. DO be humble, don't smear your past experience on any ones face even if they do. Be nice to everyone auditioning even if they don't give you the same respect. You want to be approachable to everyone even though you are all fighting for the same spot. Make friends, be social. If it comes down to you and someone a bit more skilled but much snobbier for a part, 9/10 times they will pick the more humanistic person.

OK. So, sorry about the novel above, but I hope it helps a little bit. REMEMBER-PEOPLE ARE JUST PEOPLE, THREES NO NEED TO BE AFRAID OF THEM!

GOOD LUCK AND HAVE FUN!!!

Go crazy right before you go on. Perform for tons of friends and family.

do what you fear. comfronting it will help a ton!

Know that you are the BEST!!!

just remember, a hundred years from now, no one will care.

i have no clue! sorry! all my advice is don't puke. i have really bad stage fright so when i do that i just can't puke.(which i do afterwards) GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!

theres really no way until you actually get on stage realize that everyone loves you and at that point you ll just have fun

pratice pratice pratice.
you should preform it in front of your family/friends.
it will help you get over your fear of preforming in front of people.
plus in my opinion its always easier to do things in front of people you dont know, and its harder to do them in front of people you do.

(:

good luck

Lessen im 13 years old have sang the natinal anthem at a brad casted hocky game twice. Got in a talent show six years running and have faced all that. You must practes and think if i mess up no one will know. Good luck.

do your act in front of as many people as you can.!!
even if its just practice it will help you feel more confident. you will feel more comfotable if you do it a bunch of times around people that maybe aren't family or really close. think of it like presenting a big essay at school ..practice makes perfect!

Imagine the audience wasn't there and just be brave they are noot going to sue u becuase you put on a bad act!

heres what i'd do
practice to the point where you can visualize everything you are supposed to do. practice beyond there until you could do the whole thing in your sleep. if it is music try recording it and listen and sing along with the music. Although we never did dance in our school plays try practicing in front of a mirror.

RELAX!
S L O W D O W N!
Enjoy it.
you'll do fine...
and Knock 'em dead!

You have to practice, that is a must, know your stuff without thinking about it. When you are performing just go into your zone, don't think about whom you are performing for. Just perform for yourself. Stay in your 'zone'.

The best way to loose a fear is to face it. Head on. I used to be afraid of heights. I got over it by working on a roof on a two story building. I crept up to the edge and looked around, including down. Then I calmed myself and focused on overcoming my fear. Now I work on scaffolding 3 or 4 stories or more in the air.

Perform for anyone who will watch. Ask for feedback. Hone your skills and develop the confidence so that your performance is second nature.

Have fun with it.

If you can find 20 minutes a day in a quiet spot, mentally rehearse your performance and SEE/FEEL yourself succeeding, being loved, all the good things you want to happen.

This technique has been used by countless people and is discussed thoroughly in the classic book, Psychcybernetics, by Maxwell Maltz, M.D. In the book, Maltz cites a study wherein basketball players who practiced free throws MENTALLY actually improved MORE than those who physically shot the ball.

Rehearse your routine until your blue in the face! Seriously, know your routine forwards and backwards. It will build up your confidence and you will feel awesome and then you will rock it out! Plus, if something does happen, you will be fine because your routine will be like second nature to you. Remember, that we have all been there. Good luck!

Just think that you are something special more than anything, and people will remember of your name long after you are dead. This performance is just a small stepping stone,.
