Need Help Learning how to play an Electric Guitar?

Question:So I got a Laguna-black guitar with a Line 6 amp for christmas, watched the DVD that came with it, but it wassent very informative, now I'm asking if anyone knows any web-sites that mite give lessons or tips for beginners.

The Lagunas I've played were actually pretty nice. Anyways:

http://guitar.about.com/ (Decent beginner's lessons, don't worry about learning all the songs they give you).

http://ultimate-guitar.com/ (everything, a good forum to ask questions at, video lessons, the best selection of tabs on the net, etc.)

Learn to read tabs (guitar.about), learn some common chords (guitar.about), find some tabs of songs you like (ultimate-guitar), and try to play them.

You can learn to read music if you like, but warning, it can be boring when you're first starting ;-).

have you played a box guitar before ? I strongly suggest you start with a box guitar first when you start learning. Because it gets far too easy to play electrics once you master acoustics

Condition your fingers first. Take your time, you don't want to get blisters. Here are some sites you can try.
