I don't actually know...but I've heard that the William Morris(son) Agency is an upfront agency

This really is not a smartass answer, tho at first it might seem like one. If you have to ask, you're not ready for an agent.

For a performer, the union membership comes before the agent--no legit agent will even keep your headshot on file unless you're a member of Actor's Equity, Screen Actor's Guild, or American Federation of Radio and Television Artists. You can find their websites and learn their conditions for membership--they're essentially equivalent, each recognizes each others' members, and they're not easy to join. But until you do, you can't even get into most auditions--they're closed to anyone but union members.

After you get that union card, it will be easy to find out the agents who are good and currently accepting new talent by asking your fellow performers in whatever shows you're doing.
