Position:Home>Performing Arts> Would using a character for stand up be odd or not?

Question:I have this character I use for comedy, as well as other things. I have him for videos I do, the character is what I use for music and I also use it when I do improv. So in your opinion you think it'll be a good idea to use it for stand up or not? just asking

I think using the character would be great.
Then again, it also depends on your audience.
But, you should at least try it, because it sounds like a good idea. :)

Many comedians have used characters in their acts, so why not you?

It's always good to have a special part of your act that people recognize, and a character could be just that. It's great to see stand up be new and inventive, and if you think the character could bring some laughs in new ways, then go for it.

Definitely use the character in stand up if you have found success with it in other formats. There is a list too long to type here of famous stand up comedians who used characters as part of their act, and in many cases the character helped expose the comedian to larger audiences.
