Position:Home>Performing Arts> Is it normal for the other strings to vibrate when I pick High E on my acoustic

Question:I just started playing a few weeks ago recently I have noticed something different that has happened when I practice. It doesn't happen each time, but quiet often whenever I pick the 6th string, high E, several of the lower strings like a and d start vibrating also. I was just wondering if it is a tuning problem or what. I recently bought an electronic tuner and adjusted my strings, so I'm not sure if that has to do with it, cause it started developing after I did that, but I don't know what I did wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, this happens when the guitar is perfectly in tune with itself. It's called ringing in sympathy. It's perfectly fine and normal, and actually is a good sign. You have a good guitar that you tune very, very well.

Yes and that is why you have to mute at the bridge with your palm on the strings you are not playing.
