Question:I got a drum set for christmas and ive been playing non stop. Im in love with it already. Ive been playing guitar for 3 years and i have a stronger drive to play the drums then i did when i started playing guitar.

Here are some questions I have...

In drum tabs..
which drum is the T and which is the F

I only have one drum on top of my bass drum, do i need two?

how many crash cymbols do i need?

and how do i get a double bass? Do I use two petals? lol sorry im really new

I've been starting off with Nirvana stuff, is that moderately easy material to play?

1. I'm guessing that "T" means "tom" and "F" means
"floortom".
2. The "drum on top of your bass" is also known as a "tom"
and one is fine (You can get through many rock tunes even
without toms-the core of your set is the snare, hi-hat (the
two horizontally aligned cymbals that crash together-
activated by a pedal), and bass or "kick" drum.
3. At least one crash is nice (but, once again not truly
necessary). In addition, a "ride" cymbal has a different
sound, and, when added to your set, gives you more
flexibility as a drummer.
4. Start out with one. When you're ready, yes you will need
2 of all the kick components (pedals, etc.)
5. Nirvanah should be a fairly good way to start. The basic
grinding beats shouldn't be too challenging. Of course,
when you get better, you might want to add your own little
twists here & there.

well double bass pedals are awesome but you have to get used to 1 bass pedal first and it depends on what kind of stuff you like like i recommend at lease 4 cimbols

Either you buy a double pedal or two bass drums which would be quite expensive and you just started. You could buy a double pedal for around 100 bucks and yes, nirvana is moderately easy. You could try "the strokes" too.

For double bass you generally need a second bass drum.

Your set up sounds like what Ginger Baker used to use in Cream.

T should be the tom (rack on on your Bass) and F the floor tom (on the floor next to the bass opposite the snare).

T is for "Tom-tom" I think. - The drums on the Bass drum
F is "Floor tom" - The big drum with legs on the floor on your side

Also, you can have one tom-tom on your Bass Drum.
there is no drumming rule that says you cant. You can set your kit with 10 tom-toms if you want too. Keep that mind mind later. It really doenst matter at all.

Also, you can have as many crash cymbals as you want. there is not rule to as to many you can have. If you want 5, you can have 5. It aint gonna be cheap though....

Also, Double bass drum pedals are a personal preference...
some use double kick pedals...other use 2 bass drums...
I've heard using 2 bass drums is better. I've only used double kick pedals so far.

Yes, Nirvana is very , very basic stuff...
when you want to get into the complicated drum stuff. try some RUSH...that will challenge you big time.
Good luck
