Some posters don't have any clue as to your question. Very easy procedure.
Lay on the floor or bed.....put your hand on your stomach and breath. You will notice the hand go up when you inhale, and hand goes down on exhale.
THAT'S IS THE DIAPHRAGM WORKING . Not the abs. That is how you breathe when you sing and not from the throat.

Inhale and belt out a note. :Loud ????/ Right ??? but you can also control its volume by pushing less. correct ?
Good.... now start practicing.

GOOD LUCK !!!

Instead of singing from your throat, think that your throat is in between your rib cage, and sing from that area, if you think about it enough, and really try to feel the difference you will be able to sing from your diaphragm.

You don't actually control the diaphram, but your ribs expanded and chest high will position it to work properly.
Tim Seelig's "The Perfect Blend" book and dvd is a great singing mechanism book and teaches you how to sing in a fun way!

You know when your breathing when you inhale your stomach gets flat and when you exhale you look fat again, well you reverse it to sing with your diaphram. Breath in, get fat, breath out, get skinny. It makes sense since you fill with air when you breathe in you expand.
