Position:Home>Performing Arts> What instrument...?

Question:Would people recommend for me to learn. I mainly play the viola, but can play the violin and cello to an extent aswell. I can read piano music and if I sit down for long enough can almost play the music I'm reading... I'd really like to learn another instrument, something different that you don't see alot of.. I'm really just looking for some good ideas and opinions and anything would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

If you are planning to specialise yourself for pre-Baroque music, then I'd suggest viola da gamba, Baroque violin or something similar. There are not too many experts on that field as yet!!!!

bass or guitar.

guitar is very similiar to the piano and bass is very similiar to the cello. Good luck.

Go rock!!! But if not, try the bassoon.

Try bagpipes - if you dare.
Piano accordian
Cor Anglais
Tenor horn
French Horn
Euphonium
Percussion

Play the organ! They can be very cool and spooky-sounding.

as a cello player myself i've always been somewhat fascinated by instruments that don't have strings... try something brass... by far my favorite brass instrument is the french horn... it sounds GREAT... try it... if not try the bass!!!
