Question:I have a fairly large singing range and I can sing high but whenever I try to sing low notes my voice just goes horrible and I cant sing smoothly !

Can I fix this ?

Its really annoying because I can sing fine but when I get to low notes it all just goes pear shaped ! What can I do to make my low notes more smooth ?

Oh and also I always seem to sing in my head voice which is annoying ! What can I do to fix this also ?

Thanks for all the help !

Oh and what is your falsetto voice ?

Firstly, I hope that these are issues that you are also discussing with your voice teacher.

Now:
I'm a bass. But recently my voice has shifted up a little bit. My teacher has given me great advice about singing lower now that it isn't coming as naturally.
-You must relax into the bottom of your voice. Forcing out a low note will only tighten your vocal chords and therefore they can not move easily through the slow vibrations necessary to produce a tone. Keep a wide throat, relaxed jaw, and wide ribcage.
-It will not always be loud. Do not try to make it louder than it is. Low notes are surprisingly audible.

-No one is going to be able to help you find your chest voice through a chat.

-Falsetto is not an attribute of the female voice. It is for the men only.

-Women do have what has been called "whistle tone" though. And since I am a man and do not have whistle tone I know nothing about it other than that it exists. But basically think of Mariah Carey or Linda Eder when they get really high.

If you go to singers.com they have LOTS of resources for you...CDs with singing exercises, DVDs with explanations and exercises, or just books to read about how your body works when you sing. If you're really interested in singing, this is the best place to start looking for answers to all the questions that are going to come up.
