Some people say anything about advice. As a teacher and playing for ages, Les Paul Jr is a damn good guitar if you can afford it.
I have a '59 Les Paul Special and a '63 Gold Top Les Paul. It's much easier to play and more up your alley. If you buy an acoustic, eventually, you will buy an electric and forget the acousitc . So invest in what you would love to play and take courses on that particular guitar.

My personal preference is Acoustic, just because it sounds amazing! And you can play it anywhere.

As far as your dilemma, get an acoustic-electric or an electric-acoustic.

I say try a Gibson Les Paul Studio, as a proud owner of a Studio in Alpine White, I am happy to say that it is one of the best guitars I have ever held. Awesome sustain, powerful tone, everything you would expect from a Gibson.

I started with acoustic. Had an electric for a number of years too.
I went back to acoustic because its easier to haul around, and sounds better in my opinion.

Depends. An acoustic will strengthen your fingers- and get some good callous going on your fingertips. Plus, it's easier to sit around the house and play without having to plug in some crappy practice amp- which no guitar sounds good through. Once you're comfortable on the acoustic, the switch to an electric will be like a dream... You can get an acoustic Takamine knockoff- Jasmine, for about a hundred bucks.

Get whatever one you want to play more. I will admit that going from acoustic to electric is easier than vice versa, but your number one priority should be which one will make you play. Electrics are easier to play, and if you want to learn electric songs, it will be more fun to do it on an electric.
