I used to be terrified of singing in front of people, so i understand how dissapointing it is to not do your best. Some tricks i learned for performing were to take deep breaths before going onstage, use your adrenaline- believe it or not, routinely flexing and releasing your muscles helps to relax you, and last but not least try to enjoy yourself! That helped me the most.

Its hard to do, but just getting up there and doing it, is like the saying goes, practice makes perfect! It may take a while, but the more you go in front of people, the more comfortable you get. Just last year i had to audition in front of our schools jazz choir to get in, and now I'm one of the soloists!! It was scary, but worth it!

if you are in a room or gym or theater, assign each part of the room/gym/theater a number and stare at those places moving from number to number in random order. It'll look like you are looking at the audience but you are actually looking above the audience.

When I dance I sometimes get nervous, so...I never look at anyone! =] All I do is look at the wall above them and I pretend I am alone.

I think of it as showing off a masterpiece I've been working on for months. I want people to "oooh and aaaah" when they see what I have been practicing.
