What string do you use on Jazz guitars?

I've tried the flatwounds. They last a long time and are very sturdy, but I found them to be kind of muted or dull. I prefer the halfrounds, or just a nice set of medium gauge D'Addarios. I haven't tried them myself, but the elixer coated strings are getting very good reviews.

Those elixer strings cconsaul mentioned are pricey, but play SOOOOO well, worth the extra money!!

I much prefer the Elixers on acoustic guitars for jazz and Chet Atkins's styles of playing. On the electric, flat-wounds are best, but difficult to find. I've had a set of Ernie Ball's "Not Even Slinky" custom gauge 2626 on my Gretsch Nashville since 10 May 2004 and they are still vibrant and clean.

Most use Flatwound because they have less sustain on the original stroke.
Some prefer them because they do not squeek in recording studio.
The funny thing is when i recorded, i used regular light strings and they never squeek ande had more sustain , more response.
Matter of preference.
