Position:Home>Performing Arts> I can sing okay, but I would seriously like to extend range?

Question:I can't hit high notes or my voice cracks. I am a female, and, at first, I thought this was strange, but I just have a raspy voice. IF there are any voice teachers out there, please feel free to comment.

Practice scales daily. Use typical warm-up exercises that start in the middle of your range and either work up the keyboard or down. Don't strain yourself, but gradually push yourself for one note higher until it feels more comfortable. With time and lots of practice, your range will definately get better. I had to do this myself in high school when my chorus needed soprano I's when I was really only a soprano II.

Don't force your voice. Make sure you breathe , in and out correctly. place your hand on your stomach . It should go up and down when you sing or breathe.
Now, if you have a natural raspy voice, by all means, you are lucky. I would love to have a raspy singer in our band.

Try to hit high notes, slowly and go up in slow increments.
