It depends on what you are trying to sell. If you are trying to sell only your voice to a producer with in-house musicians, then it should be sufficient. If you are trying to sell to a bar or restaurant owner so they hire you for entertainment purposes, then they would probably decline.

You could find someone to write and record your music for you, like I have done for people many times, but then your left only with preformance tracks when entertainment venues want live bands.

Another problem with a capella is, your sense of rythm and pitch can't really be evaluated, except in relativity with the rest of your recording.

So, if you're looking to be a studio musician, an a capella demo can work, but if you want to be a live musician, you're going to need a band. So my advice would be to go to a local music store and post an ad for yourself listing that you are a singer looking for a band, and make sure to include that you write and what your style is, etc. There's no tellin' where it can go from there!!!

I suppose you could. But I would think that if you really wanted your song to get noticed you would need to have at least some sort of instrumental accompaniment to give listeners a sense of the song's style, tempo, possible arranging ideas and so forth.

Don't you have any musician friends who would be willing to play on your demo?

You can if your voices is really good.

Another thing you can try is getting one of those Casio or Yamaha $125 keyboard with the accompanyment.

All you need to do is learn how to find the chords with two fingers and change your fingers for each chord change and you can record that as your music.

Guitar, bass, drums.

Yeah, but it would be more helpful if you had background music to it. See if you get a keyboard and program some music behind it and sing along with it. The basic purpose of the demo is show record labels what you can do musically, vocally & also that you can "flow" well with music.

Also, another sugesstion is. You could also pay someone to play for you too. It wont be cheap, but it does get the job done. You could get a keyboard player or a guitar player and you teach him your songs. That's just another idea. Good luck
