While there is a lot of merit in saying that a person should stick with the instrument he or she is better at, I would offer a different view.

First, why choose at all? Why not continue to play both? If someone is good at guitar and drums, why must he choose?

But if you decide you want to go with just one, then go with the instrument you WANT to play (if you're good at it). Won't you be happier in the long run?

Do you want to end up 10 years fom now saying to yourself "I should have stuck with (the other instrument)!"

Bottom line: if you want to play guitar, then play guitar. If you want to play the drums, then play drums. Or play both! Do what you WANT.

stick to the drums. If that is what he does best, stay on the drums and insist on a microphone

I pick drums..........

i agree, stick with the drums, they know them better, and will probably get better faster.

Good drummers are harder to find than good guitarists, so if you want to be in higher demand, go with the drums.

If you're planning on singing lead, however, I always thought bands where the drummer did most of the singing, like Genesis, were a bit odd, but it can work.

Guitar. It's easier to carry to the beach if you want to serenade someone.
