Position:Home>Performing Arts> Guitar Fingering?Question:i'm starting to learn how to play guitar...i'm teaching myself. I already know how to read music because i've been in band before...but the problem I have is with the fingerings. I have a chart that shows you cords with the notes and TABS...I can read them fine...but the problem is I don't know what finger to put where. Is there a specific finger that prosides over a certain string...or do you just finger in a way that is most comfortable to you? Thanks! It helps to use certain fingers on chords because that permits faster and smooth changes to other chords and when playing melodies. One example is the G chord (32OOO3). I recommend placing the second finger on "2" and the ring finger on "3." The little finger is then placed on the small string in the third fret. This positioning makes changing to a G7 or the C chord easier. Thank you for selecting my reply as best. Be determined in learning to play the instrument and tolerate your mistakes in doing so.
