Depends on how long his fingers are. Age 8 is probably fine. If his fingers are short, get him a smaller size guitar.

but it in his earyly teens

hmmmm that may be a bit young....his fingers are still growing and he may not be ready for the commitment....

IF YOU KEEP IT TUNED FOR HIM AND TEACH OPEN E-A-D-G-B-E HE'LL LEARN TO TUNE BY EAR EARLIER

the sooner the better=][=
8 is pretty perfect.

i'd wait a couple years untill his fingers are longer-- it could make it easier then...

i think its a good age cause you look at when hes 15 or 16 hes gonna be way ahead of everyone else thats just starting out at his age..

If he's been asking for a guitar and shows interest in wanting to play then he's not too young to start. But if learning guitar is YOUR idea for him and not something he wants to do, then don't push it on him. Be aware that an 8-year-old's attention span is probably not as long as an adult's, and make sure you get lessons for him with a teacher who knows how to teach kids.

You should get him a 3/4 size guitar as his hands aren't big enough yet to handle a full-size instrument.

I started learning in grade 4.. so i was about 8 or 9
