Question:Why is it leaving broadway!?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Why is it leaving broadway!?

If the rights come available, it will be after the 1st National Tour has completed.

I'm not always sure of the exact reasons that shows close on Broadway, but the strike was hard on a lot of shows. And some shows, and this may or may not be the case with TDC, have a hard time keeping their audiences after their original stars leave.

The Drowsy Chaperone has been running for a while now and has done very, very well on Broadway, including winning Tony awards. However, the recent strike on Broadway hurt it, as it hurt other shows whose box offices were diminishing anyway. I think it is going on tour. It's an excellent show, and I recommend it to anyone.

As soon as you see tickets going for $26.50, this is the kiss of death. I was there last weekend, and actually bought 104 seats to take my chorus (8th grade) in May - only to find a few days later that it was closing. No surprise - although he show was good, it was half-empty the Saturday matinee I was there. The show is/was CLEAN - very little off-color humor - EXTREMELY clean by most B'way standards, unless you are comparing it to Lion King or Mary Poppins. WHY??? It's CANADIAN!!!! You have to like the premise of a lonely guy playing his Mom's old records, and being transported back into a Twenties musical - if you liked Me and My Girl, this is fine for you.

I an curious to find out what is next going to open in the Marriott Marquis theater- whether a current show will move, and another show open in that vacated theater, or if another show is slated to open directly in the Marquis. I have gotten seats at a bargain price for show that have turned out to be HOT, because we got them when a show was in rehearsal or previews,
