Look in the local paper under musical instruments for sale, or even go on www.craigslist.com or ebay to look for drumsets. Also www.musiciansfriend.com has drumsets at lower prices. I would recommend getting a Ludwig, pearl, 5 -piece drumset with hi hat, ride and crash cymbals. At the beginning, I wouldn't worry about the quality of cymbals---you need something to practice on, don't spend more than $400/ that will get you a pretty good set but not the best. I think you'll find the best deal on musiciansfriend>>>>>>you never know who you're dealing with on a personal level. Take someone along with you who knows drums and can kinda coach you. For a 5 piece drumset, a name brand, anywhere from $250 - $500. Hope this helped

Pearl or Tama.
