Question:i have to present/compere an arts event for young people aged between 11-25 and by the way i am a young person myself (19yrs). i have done this kind of presenting before but i have always had the script written for me. this time no, so any tips on what would catch their attention the most and what not to say, etc.

well stuff which relate to them like trends but whatever you do don't talk down to them as I myself find that annoying! Maybe also crack a few jokes and add humour where ever you can come out bubbly and the kids will like that!
Hopes this helps.

compare art...Hmmm...i am not too knowledgable in this but I'll take a poke at it..ok?
I would think if i had to compare two pieces of art, I'll say paintings.I guess, I'd compare their styles..how they differ. I might want to make a compasion to the time period of which each was done, and/or region of the world in which it was painted, in this case. I obviously would compare one artist to the other also.
I think, I'd try to be very informative but not to overcase in a pure serious tone - you'll want to have a lighter tone to your presentation to keep the people interested in what you are saying. Humor, as stated works pretty well in doing this, and don't forget to look for statements. Maybe the artist did something with his brush strokes that was no common in those days and was his/her way of lashing out at the powers to be and making a statement in doing so.
