A scratching sound? ---- Is it in time with the sweep of plectrum if you use one? What plectrum are you using? If you use a very light one then you will here the sound of the plectrum "scratching" across the keys. If that is the case then its only a problem if it is annoying. Try a heavier gauge plectrum but don't go up in massive numbers;l buy 3 or 4 of varying gauges and buy the same make too as I have found that different manufacturers gauges are different.

Just one thought anyway.

The "nut" may be cracked. The nut is the guide piece for the strings located at the top of the fret board. If the nut isn't cracked, you may have the B (2nd) and E (1st) strings switched. Hope this helps.
