Thou shalt always arrive on time

Thou shalt always arrive prepared

Thou shalt consistently practice thy instrument outside of band practice

Thou shalt always pay attention the band instructor and section leaders

Thou shalt treat others and their property with respect

Thou shalt respect thyself and thine instrument

Thou shalt have fun making music.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's position as first chair, nor shalt thou boast of your own first chair position.

I hope that helps. Sorry they're in King James Bible-speak. I took the 10 commandments theme and ran with it.

10) nobody runs the band but the manager

9) the manager is in charge of getting everyone to agree on practice dates and times, promo work and gig planning

8) the manager's word is law

7) girl/boyfriends have NO SAY in band management or who should play where and what

6) everyone contributes songs, etc.

5) everyone carries their own equipment

4) EVERYONE helps with setup

3) if people miss more than three practices without serious reasons they are out.

2) if people want to try stuff let them

1) date outside the band! one word: YOKO

1. Schedule: Set amount of time per practice and set
amount of times per week.

2. Scales: Always do your scales

3. Warm up: (Which could also be scales)

4. Challenge: Always practice something you are not capable of doing. Eventually you will be able to.

5. Variety: Play different types of music.
Play different time signatures (like 4/4, 3/4, 6/6, etc.)

6. Metronome to practice staying in perfect time.
You don't always need it, but it helps to learn what
perfect time feels like.

7. Tuning: Always keep training your ear.

8. Chords: Learn what notes go with other ones.

9. Improvisation

10. Memorization

1) You shall always turn up to EVERY rehearsal

2) You shall not play your instrument when your band teacher is talking

3) You shall ALWAYS bring a pencil

4) You shall practice outside of rehearsals

5) You shall not be louder then any other instrument. Especially during their solo part

6) You shall not complain about any other player. Even if you do play better then them! It always backfires!!

7) You shall always bring your music and other essential music

8) You shall always enjoy music to the best of your ability even if you are the WORST musician ever

Practice until you can't get it wrong.
