Position:Home>Performing Arts> Any Guitar Players Know a Good Guitar to start on?

Question:I want to start playing Electric Guitar, and I was wondering, what would be a good guitar to start on. The genre of music I want to play is Hard Rock/Metal, maybe a little bit of blues in there aswell. I was thinking a Fender Stratocaster to start on and move up to a Gibson SG or Les Paul when I get more experienced. Any advice people?

Is this a trick question? If you can afford a Fender, why move up to Gibson or the other way round for that matter?

Don't waste your money and just buy ONE GOOD GUITAR when the time comes. Start with an Epiphone. They are cheap and awesome fingerboard and sound on them.

Then, move up to top notch. Don't waste money in-between by climbing to better and better. Make that one move.

Fenders are good for arpeggio and have a good clean tone even on distortion.
But, Gibson has that fat bluesy sound and also Heavy for Rock.
In either case, the instrument will sound only as good as you can play. Get it ???

You can get an Epiphone SG for the price of a Fender (not Squier) Strat. But the Strat is better for blues.

some of my friends started on ibanez guitars and fernandez... but me, i started with fender stratocaster, i still have my fender strat with me but im already experimenting with other guitars like washburn idol series and les paul....
