Why are men better at guitar than women?

Yea, no famous female players, but there are plenty out there. Like right now, I'm the best at my school and even beat my teachers, :) I like kicking the guys' butts lol. But I think there shoulde be more chicks out there, I think it's just all tehse gay music companies, they're scared to try something new so they don't let talented female musicians out into the music industry world. We should go egg them. Lol.

well there are many good guitar players out there just gotta look harder.
i would only assume guys are better because there is a bit of strength required in fretting the strings and at first you tire very quickly. Not to mention you get crazy calluses and girls like their super soft girly skin :-P no offense ladies.

there are a lot of good female guitar players...but u are right, there are way more guys who play. i dont kno why it is tho. that is a really good question

it's just that th men get more recognition, I've seen great female guitar players. The whole instrument is very phallic, so that's why the public associates it with men.

I think that the reason why is because in rock bands with females, almost 100% of the time they are vocalists. This could be because most females' musical talent comes from their voice, so they don't bother to play, because nobody else can sing as high as females, so that's what they're good at. (ex. Avril Lavigne, Carrie Underwood, Paramore, Evanescense) Does that answer your question?

Just because you never heard Sharon Isbin play doesn't mean the best living guitar player isn't a woman.

I think a lot of has to do with a man's ability to concentrate on one thing. We literally can focus on one thing so much we shut out the rest of the world.

i think that stereotype comes from more guys deciding to learn guitar than girls. and most male guitar players i've talked to say that the reason they started playing guitar in the first place was they thought it would make more girls like them. i don't know any girls who think that playing guitar will make guys like them. so... i definitely know a few very skilled female guitarists, but i know more male guitarists in general.

Its a good question and probably has to do with masculinity with the left hand.

When I put a jar of jam back in the refrigerator, i always screw the top back on. My wife also puts it back in the refrigerator but she doesn't screw the top all the way back on. Thats so the next person that picks it up to use it, it will fall on the floor if you grab it by the top. See what I mean.
