Very easy.....You want to tune the low E to D. Just pick your 4th string, which is D, and lower the E to D. That is approx. 1 full turn max.

Forget droping the low E to C. It will buzz.

are you familiar with the tuning heads?

D would be the 7th Fret

Turn the tuning pegs clockwise.

If you have a tuner (preferably Korg), keep going down on each note until you hit the exact letter (dead in the middle).

In drop D, D denotes the lowest string (the E). They move up in this pattern: Low to High, Left to Right.

You see?

if you want to go to drop D just tune the bottom E down to D till its in tune with the 4th D string. DADGBE. on drop C use a tuner so its less confusing.

loosen the movin tops lossening will make it go lower, while tightnening it will make it go higher.

To tune to "Drop D" or Dadgbe simply play the D (4th) string and match the tone by down tuning the low E string.

For Cgcfad. Play a C on any other string and match the tone by down tuning the low E string to that tone. Once the low E String is down tuned, simply tune the rest of the strings the standard way Using the low E string as the beginning reference.

Standard tuning is EBGDAE from 1st string to 6th

If you have no technological help with you, what you can do is tune the 6th string (E) to the 4th string (D). This is what they call "Drop - D Tuning"
