Question:I know what g is but not G#8...I no E but not E8 . Same with F#8. I no F but not F#8. I no A but not A8. ARe they different chords or numbers of things or......PLeaseeeeee help.

"8" is not a standard chord symbol. Whoever wrote out those chords is using some sort of unconventional notation. I imagine you found this online somewhere?

Could be that this person is using "8" to separate the chords from one another in an attempt to clarify things for the reader -- if that's the case, it's obviously not working.

Try ignoring the 8's altogether and see if the song sounds right. In the key of E Major, the chord progression sort of makes sense (though it would make more sense if the G# chords were G# Minor chords).

So the bottom line is that you're neither crazy nor ignorant -- I've been playing music my whole life and 8's are NOT a part of standard chord notation.

I highly suggest that you purchase a guitar chord dictionary.
