Position:Home>Performing Arts> Whenever I try to "pull-off" I end up playing the open string. How can

Question:On my ACOUSTIC guitar, I try to "pull off" and the noise always ends up being the open string. BTW, I'm trying to play "Over The Hills and Far Away" by Led Zeppelin. Whenever I try to pull off, it just sounds like I'm picking the open string. Any suggestions? Am I doing something wrong? Any good videos where I can find what I'm doing wrong? (youtube didn't help much)

Hey man when you do a pull off,if you are pulling off to a open string it should sound like that,But I think what you are doing is not letting the picked note ring before you pull off.Check this out.

Use your 1st finger to finger the note on the 5th fret of the 1st string. Now keep that note fretted and dont let up.Use you 3rd finger to fret the note on the 7th fret of the 1st string, now pick the note and AFTER IT RINGS,pull off your 3rd finger in a slightly agressive sideways motion, while leaving that 1st finger on the 5th fret.you should get a successful note,if not then repeat the above steps intil you do,adjust the way you snap your finger off the string, after you are successful then try doing the above pull off with adding the 1st finger as a pull off to the open 1st string, like this.
7,pull off to 5,pull off to open,7,pull off to 5,pull off to open,5 pull off to open,7,pull off to open,Repeat and practice, til smooth,Good luck and send me an email if you need any help
