How to implement scales into composition?

The scales are like the alphabet. And just like "abcdefg" is not a word that means anything, running scales in a composition doesn't say anything musically. The language of music is melody. Use the scale as a group of notes to choose from to make a melody, much like making a word out of a group of letters in Scrabble. Good luck!
