Position:Home>Performing Arts> Who do you think is the most influential artist/musician of the 1960s and 70s?

Question:I'd say either Robert Zimmerman or John Lennon

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I'd say either Robert Zimmerman or John Lennon

For me I'd say Bob Dylan

1960s: The Beatles

Stockhausen. He influenced a large group of pop musicians which in turn influenced the masses. He died last week actually.

Bob Dylan

Dylan

Jimi Hendrix
I would estimate that at least half of all rock guitarists either emulate his style or someone else who was influenced by him. Townsend, Clapton and others would say he changed the game when he hit the scene.

Dylan was very unique and made his mark deep but few people hit the stage wanting to be like him. The thought of that is kinda funny (humorous) to me. Can you imagine all the wannabees droaning on in nasal tones about some "meaningful" cause?

I'd say Bob Dylan, he influenced the entire generation. Even Jimi Hendrix covered one of his tunes (All Along the Watchtower). He was the first established "Folkie" that played an electrified guitar (that was a major taboo back in those days). He was the Voice of the Time.

Oh god, 1960's the beatles for sure.
I'm producing a film that takes place in 1972-1980, so I know all of the good ones.
(the albumbs we're using are:)
Beatles - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club band, (3 songs)
Lynyrn Skynyrd - Second Helping (2 songs)
Supertramp - Indelibly stamped + Crime of the century (2 songs, 1 from each album)
And a few STYX songs,

There are tons of other influential bands from that era,

Michael Jackson,
Queen,
AC/DC,
Alice Cooper,
Eric Clapton,
REO speedwagon,
Air Supply,
The Clash,
Journey,
Blondie,
Pink Floyd,
Kiss,
(these are just off of the top of my head)

The most influential, I'm going to have to agree were The Beatles.

With all these answers, no one thought of Elvis Presley ? Even today, they still talk about him.
