Help me with my choice of song?

Question:Hi guys

i have to perform a song live next tuesday in front of the whole college centre this will include students and teachers alike listening to me & a few other people showing off their special talents. For example one guy will be playing keyboards a girl will be doing a jig reel thats an irish dancing piece. Now its done to me to sing a song i am not to sure in which song to sing. So here are the choices.
Lisa Loeb stay i missed you
Or
Any of Jack Johnsons im thinking better together or waiting wishing.

Now yahoo team you have to advice me in what song to sing and you also have to give me tips on not getting nervous if i get nevous i will probably get tongue tied or worse still forget the words so if anyone can give me some tips and advice so all goes well on the day i would be grateful.

if everything goes to plan i might try and upload it on my yahoo account.

I have also in mind James Morrision You give me something.

Hi. I definitely think you should sing Better Together - it's a great song. As for feeling nervous - just imagine the audience (including teachers) are naked! Good luck and enjoy x

I would recommend singing 'Praise You ' by Fatboy Slim - it will make everyone feel good. As to avoiding nervousness that can't be helped- all performers get nervous prior. Just make sure you've rehearsed thoroughly so it's automatic.

If you sing the piece you know the best, it will help keep your nervousness down.

It is pointless asking people on here to recommend a song because they are not capable of recommending anything suitable. The reason for this is because they do not know what vocal range you have nor do they know what your tone and vocal style is like. You have to make the decision.

You should choose a song that fits your vocal range and style. You should choose a song that you like to sing and that you feel comfortable singing. Also consider what the audience might like to hear.

Once you have chosen the song you need to practise, practise and practise until singing it becomes second nature.

you should seek advice from your tutor, they should tell you your strengths and areas you need to stretch your talent.
