Why is it important to attend band rehearsals?

practice makes perfect

No need to bother if you intend to be utterly shite.

But if you want to be good - then you need to rehearse.

Well truth is practice makes you very good !

Bands are about keeping in tune with each other, you dont pratice together you can sound out off tune, not every one plays the same. And it also enhances your skills, practice makes perfect.

So you don't sound like a train wreck when it's time to perform. If a person doesn't want to attend rehearsals then they aren't that dedicated to the band. Not just the music has to be rehearsed. You need to know the order of the music, etc.

I'd say it's important to attend band rehearsals so that you DON'T SCREW UP and make everyone else look bad! It's important to some people, don't mess it up for them, that's not right and everyone will be really mad at you, and don't like, you DO care.

Unless you're playing solos on street corners with no aspirations, the answer to that should be self-evident.

Well, if you are a member of the band it is very important. You and the other members needs to get your tunes down perfectly. You all need to be what musicians often call "tight"; that is, everyone is on each beat with one another perfectly--no one trailing off to late or coming in too early.

Besides, it's really annoying when you are setting time aside from your schedule to practice with everyone and they don't bother showing up. It wastes everyone time and can cause serious conflict in the band. If someone wants to be in a band, but doesn't want to go to rehearsals, then they arn't very serious or professional, let alone considerate of other people.

I guess it is about a range of things and your own priorities. So commitment to the band, team work, by playing together it helps you form a stronger bond with your band mates and thus you should play better together etc. However having said this if you much rather do something else then hey do it, but don't expect to gain much respect. Do what you enjoy, but remember that it may sometimes be boring and hard work but it will also be rewarding.

A band, a choir, or any big music-making group can be really compared to a musical instrument, and, if any parts of that instrument would be missing, the instrument is not complete, it is broken!!! So, this is why EVERYBODY in the group is equally vital and needed!

You may have the piece down pat, but others in the class might still be struggling with their part. It is important for you to be their to give everyone around you a feel for what it will sound like at the concert. You can't just practice your piece on your own and expect everyone to be perfect in a performance. You have to practice so that all you guys are on the same level. Just go to the rehearsal. I usually just goof off with my friends the whole time anyway... =D

It trains you to not only recognise the other band members when you see them!...but to "turn up for the gig!"...ON TIME!!!

what a lot of people get mixed up with is PRACTICE and REHEARSAL. practice is getting better on your own time. not the band, and the director's time. YOURS. a rehearsal is playing with the band and perfecting the band as a whole.

but anyways, it is important to show up because the director may make changes to music and you wont know about them. and each person is important for the success of the band's performance. and with people missing, it is hard to make the band better. hope i persuaded you to NEVER miss a rehearsal unless absolutely necessary.
